"TRANSIENT" is a short dv film made up of ‘cine-photo’ images featuring those of young Japanese boys drumming on a raised portable shrine at an Autumn festival in Naoshima, Japan.
David Sylvian's composition 'When loud weather buffeted Naoshima' was created specifically for the Standard 2 art festival Naoshima, Japan 06/07 and is featured as the soundtrack to this film. This video also introduces the work (digital painting) by the late Japanese artist Mitsuru Tokutomi.
These individual works stand firmly on their own merits, but the aim in recontextualizing them is to create an audio/visual poem united in its spiritual essence.
