Long-time friends and collaborators David Sylvian and Ryuichi Sakamoto worked together once again on this 2003 release, World Citizen. Written at a time when few dissenting voices were heard protesting against American policy in the middle east, both of these compositions are openly political, advocating a contemplatively global perspective as opposed to the the fiercely patriotic one that was prevalent in the US at that time.
There are five tracks included on World Citizen, in a different running order and with completely different artwork to the package originally released by Warner Music Japan. The final track of the CD features a remarkable remix by acclaimed composer Ryoji Ikeda.
The songs were recorded in New York and New Hampshire, USA in the summer of 2003.
